Inspirational quotes

For today’s post I’ll be sharing some of my favourite inspirational quotes with you. I don’t have a lot of time to post at the moment, so it will be quite short.

So basically, I think we can all relate to this. We’re really excited about a certain idea we had, then we try it out and fail. Don’t let this hold you back, keep trying! And if life hits you hard, fight back but please never give up.

Nowadays we can get so caught up with work, school and social media; we forget about the things we actually love to do. For example: I love going for long walks with my dog (as I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions post) but I barely ever do; just because I’m always ‘busy’. I really need to stop coming up with excuses and spend less time on my phone, so I can actually go outside more often.

This is another relatable thing. We all know the promises we make to ourselves: ‘Yeah, I’ll start tomorrow/next week/next year.’ But every moment matters, so if you want something, start working for it now. Don’t waste your time wishing for certain things to happen but use that time to achieve your goals instead.

If you enjoy the little things, life will suddenly get a lot better. Especially on those terrible school days, this can really help. Make yourself some tea, have a nice snack and just enjoy those small moments. I promise it’ll make your day a whole lot better.

It’s very important to not miss out on opportunities because you’re scared. Don’t let fear get in your way. If you get offered a great opportunity, take it! It may lead to wonderful things.

Well, I hope that inspired you all a bit. I might not be able to upload a new blog post next week but I will try though.

Simple, natural makeup look

Hey! Today’s post is a collab with Anna. I’m in no way an expert at makeup but I hope you’ll enjoy this post nevertheless. It’s going to be a really simple and natural makeup look; perfect for school days. So let’s get started!

After I’ve cleansed my face, I apply a moisturizer. I basically use it as a primer, which works quite well for me. Having done that, I use this Catrice powder to even out my skin tone.

Then I apply my eyeshadow. This eyeshadow really makes your eyes look a lot brighter but it does have a bit of fall out.

I got this mascara ages ago, for only €2 and it’s so good! It looks so natural, it’s perfect for this look! I would definitely recommend it.

To finish the look off, I apply the Nyx soft matte lip cream in the shade ‘Cannes’. This lip cream literally stays on all day and it’s €7,31, which is a really good price for such an amazing product.

I only used three brushes for this look. A powder brush for the powder, an eyebrow brush for my eyebrows and an eyeshadow brush for the eyeshadow.

I hope you liked this and please check out Anna’s post as well.

Blogger recognition award

I got nominated for this by Kai. Thank you so much, Kai. She’s quite new to blogging, I believe, so it would be really nice if you could take a minute out of your day to check out her blog and read some of her posts.

Here are the rules:

  1. You must thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story about how you started your blog.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give the award to.
  6. Comment on each of the blogs to let them know that they’ve been nominated, and provide a link.

I started this blog a bit over a year ago, because I really enjoyed reading other people’s blogs and that inspired me to start my own. I’ve always loved writing and taking pictures, even though I’m not particularly good at it, and thought blogging would be the perfect way to share my love for makeup, books and travelling. After a couple of weeks I gave up on blogging though. I made it my 2017 goal to start blogging again, deleted my previous posts and started all over. I’m very determined to keep up with it this time.

I’m a new blogger myself but my advice would be:

  1. Don’t be scared of what people think of your blog. You should never let other people keep you from doing what you want/love to do. There’ll always be people who won’t like your content but as long as you’re happy with it, you shouldn’t let that bother you. The people who do like your blog are much more important.
  2. Make a posting schedule, so you’ll know what you’re going to post and when. If you do this, you’ll be a lot more motivated to keep posting and your followers will know when to expect a new post. Don’t push yourself too much though. If you don’t manage to post every day, that’s okay. I only post once a week. You can decide for yourself how often you want to post.

I’m not nominating anyone in particular, partly because I’m lazy, but also, because I don’t want anyone to feel obligated to post about this. If you’re reading this and would like to receive this award, I hereby nominate you!

And don’t forget to have a look at Kai’s blog!

Skincare routine

Skincare routine

Hey! In this blog post, I will be showing you my skincare routine. This is the routine I pretty much do every night, unless I really can’t be bothered haha.

I start by taking my makeup off, using this micellar water. It works really well, even for waterproof makeup and it’s quite cheap. After I’ve taken my makeup off, I like to cleanse my face with this Rituals cleanser. I’m not sure whether I would recommend it; as it’s soap-free, the structure is kind of strange but it does leave your skin feeling very soft.

I scrub my face about three to four times a week and try to have a face mask at least once a week. I love these face masks so much but I’m not sure whether they’re available outside The Netherlands. You might be able to get them online.

When I’m done with all of this, I apply my moisturiser, which I got at Yves Rocher’s. It smells amazing and it helps against impurities too!

And that’s really all there is to my skincare routine. I know it’s quite simple but I like the products I use. Let me know what your favourite skincare products are!

Favourite songs at the moment

Today’s post will be about my favourite songs at the moment. There’s not really one particular kind of music I’m into but I guess the thing my favourite songs have in common is that they remind me of a certain happy memory.

LOST BOY – Troye Sivan

I basically love all of Troye’s songs but this one has got to be my favourite. It reminds me of my trip to Amsterdam with my sister and one of my friends.

Never Be – 5 Seconds of Summer

I’ve listened to this song in the car for hours on end, while I was on holiday. It really reminds me of all the amazing places I’ve been to.

Mercy – Shawn Mendes

I saw Shawn Mendes live last year (front row, I still can’t believe it) and the way he sang this song! He put so much emotion in it, I’ve loved it ever since.

Photograph – Ed Sheeran

Ed’s songs are so calm. I love to listen to his songs when getting ready for bed. This song was also in the Me Before You movie, which made me like it even more.

Before The Lobotomy – Green Day

I used to listen to Green Day a lot and this song will always be one of my favourites. I don’t know why but I really like it.

Do I Ever – Kensington

Kensington is a Dutch band and they make me proud to be living in this country. They’re so good. If you haven’t heard of them yet and are looking for a good band, you should definitely check them out.

Right Now – One Direction

This list wouldn’t be complete without a One Direction song. I used to be obsessed with One Direction and this song will always mean a lot to me. I found out about them in 2012 and been a fan ever since. I still listen to their songs occasionally.

Castle on the Hill – Ed Sheeran

This song, as most of you will probably have heard of, only came out recently. I really like it, I think anyone can relate to at least part of the lyrics.

Close As Strangers – 5 Seconds of Summer

I was so happy when I heard that all of 5SOS’s songs were gonna be on Spotify; this song being one of them. It’s such a beautiful song.

Guys My Age – Hey Violet

Last but not least, is this song by Hey Violet. This is just a happy song that I like to listen to when getting ready for school.

I hope you all liked this post. I’m always looking for new songs and bands to listen to, so please let me know what your favourite songs are!

Everyday makeup routine

Everyday makeup routine

Hello and welcome to yet another new blog post! I still haven’t figured out what my posting schedule is going to be like but I will probably try to post every Friday in the future. Today’s post is a collab with the lovely Kate. If you click on this, it should lead you to her blog.

My makeup routine is quite simple. I don’t wear makeup every day but this is what I would wear for a simple every day look.

I start my makeup look by using the Maybelline Baby Skin primer. After that I use this Catrice concealer under my eyes to brighten and cover dark circles and  to cover up redness. This concealer is excellent if you’re looking for a cheap concealer. The packaging looks neat and the quality is not bad either. To make sure my concealer stays put, I use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I can never actually be bothered to put foundation on. It’s so much work and my skin feels a lot fresher without it.

When I’m done with my skin, I move on to my eyes. The first thing I apply, is eyeshadow. I like to use the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadow in the shade ‘crème de rose’. It’s a pinkish nude and it looks very subtle. I also like to use the Naked 2 palette if I’m looking for a more autumnal look. Having done my eyeshadow, I use the Lash Sensational mascara. This is definitely the best mascara I’ve ever tried. It makes your lashes appear a lot longer while still looking natural. For my lips, I only use lip balm.

As I said before, this is a collab with Kate, so it would be nice if you could read her post as well. I’ll be back with a new post soon.

New Year’s resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! I’ve got lots of New Year’s resolutions every year but I do stick to them most of the time, so that’s good. I usually just make a new bucket list for each year. In this post, I’ll name a few goals/resolutions of mine. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy reading about them and I hope they might inspire you.

1. Help out at home

I’m always very busy with a lot of different things but I do need to stop using that as an excuse. My mum is great and makes sure me and my sisters get everything we need, so it’s time to give something back. I’m sure she’d really appreciate it.

2. Go outside more often

I swear I spend 85% of my life inside, which is a real pity, as I do love going on walks with my dog. It’s not 100% my own fault as school and work take up a lot of my time but I do believe I could at least try.

3. Be more active on this blog

I always tend to give up on my blog after about three weeks of posting but this time I want that to change. I wanna keep posting once a week, because writing is something I really enjoy. I’d love to see my blog grow.

4. Use my phone less

I spend a lot of time on my phone, especially on Instagram. I want to decrease the time I spend on my phone to two hours a day, which may still sound like a lot but time flies when you’re reading people’s blogs and looking at pictures, as you may know.

5. Get better at playing the piano

I’m teaching myself to play the piano but I’m not very good at it yet. I’d like to learn some new songs and also work on my timing (which is quite rubbish to be honest).

These are some of my goals, let me know what your goals are if you have any! Let’s make 2017 awesome 🙂
